Sikh Temple Remembrance
On August 5th, 2012, seven worshippers were murdered by a white supremacist at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Tonight we light the Hoan In remembrance of those lives lost and our continued commitment in supporting the Sikh Community.
“In the 10 years since August 5, we have continued to build around this wound in our community. Everyone carries the weight of this anniversary differently. But to me, the most important thing is that we keep pushing for a society free from bigotry and hate. Not enough has been done to keep communities safe, and others have suffered in the past decade like we did. That’s why we continue to advocate for change, to build bridges with our neighbors, and to make sure we are fostering the growth of the next generation.” -Pardeep Kaleka
