Light the Hoan, in partnership with Humana, Network Health, WEA Trust, and Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative, will pay tribute to Wisconsin healthcare workers during National Public Health Week through a three-night bridge lighting event and social media campaign.
The bridge lighting will debut two never-before-seen lighting animations on April 8, 9 and 10 at the top and bottom of every hour, from dusk until 2 a.m. Lights will alternate between pulsating red to replicate a heartbeat and simulating an EKG heart rate monitor to honor all of the healthcare heroes who helped us through the pandemic. Light the Hoan will livestream the April 8 bridge lighting on its Facebook account, for those who would like to participate virtually.
“We are so grateful for this opportunity to support this first-of-its-kind event to recognize the countless contributions of our local healthcare heroes,” said Ryan Zikeli, Great Lakes Market Vice President of Humana. “Humana has a strong and longtime commitment to the Wisconsin healthcare community as we work together to help our Humana members achieve their best health and lifelong well-being.”
“I have immense gratitude for the role health care workers have played in supporting the needs of our members and the entire community during the pandemic,” said Cathy Mahaffey, CEO of Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative. “We are proud that Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative can show our appreciation of health care heroes through the bridge lighting during National Public Health Week.”
During National Public Health Week, April 5 – 11, Light the Hoan encourages the community to share their appreciation for the healthcare workers in their lives. Honor heroes in your community by dedicating a bulb on the Hoan bridge in their name or by highlighting your hero through a social media post of the bridge lighting; be sure to include #HealthcareHeroes for a chance to be reposted on the Light the Hoan social media accounts.
“All of us at Network Health are grateful for the hard work and sacrifices of the health care workers who have worked tireless hours to care for our insureds, our shared community and in many instances our family and friends,” said Coreen Dicus-Johnson, President and CEO of Network Health.
Light the Hoan will highlight each participating healthcare organization’s mission, history, and team members across its website, social media, and upcoming newsletter.
“WEA Trust is proud to support our members as well the countless healthcare heroes across our state. This past year showed the strength and resilience of our community and we thank you for your dedication,” said Mike Quist, WEA Trust President and CEO.
